As a singer...
In 2017 I started my own musical project called Martha, with a group of like-minded musicians, who together turned a musical sketch into an organic song under the Ghent sky.
I have performed as a backing singer with Milk Inc, Sioen, Roel Vanderstukken, the Make-a-Wish Band and Vlaanderen Muziekland.
Participated in The Voice of Flanders in 2024 with coach Mathieu Terryn.
The Voice van Vlaanderen
Merel Cappaert participated in The Voice of Flanders on VTM in 2024, where she took part in the Blind Auditions with the song "Put Your Records On." Merel was coached by Mathieu Terryn, known from the band Bazart.
Martha
Martha consists of like-minded musicians, who together transform a musical sketch into an organic song under the Ghent sky, inspired by a well-known or less well-known story. Merel Cappaert's soft voice is the guiding principle around which the band expands a musical patchwork. Usually warm and soft, sometimes with small turbulent edges. But always in service of "The Story" that the song contains.
Milk Inc.
In 2007, Merel joined Milk Inc as a background singer, a dance music group that emerged in 1995 in the commercial dance scene in Belgium. The group's discography includes a total of seven studio albums and 41 singles. Merel has been back on stage as a singer since 2023, starting with her performance during 'Regi - The Return', where she helped shape the comeback of Linda Mertens and Milk Inc.
Stories Unmuted
In 2020, the project ‘Stories’ was launched to help young patients at the KidZ Health Castle with physical or mental health issues. Together with a collective of healthcare providers and artists, we made a significant difference for about 20 young people. We aim to repeat that success in 2023. Stories wants to help young people rediscover their inner strength through their own photos, music, and life stories. Art, in all its forms, provides a creative outlet for emotions and thoughts. The collective remains fully committed to working for and with young people.
